How Serve Our Neighbors–Ministries of Social Justice

At Resurrection Catholic Church variety of parish ministries has developed over time as opportunities for service, within our own community and beyond.  These ministries include:

  • Appalachian Service Project (ASP): an annual summer mission trip to Appalachia designed to invite teens and young adults to greater discipleship through prayer, forming community, and assisting the poor in the repair of their homes. Click for schedule and information
  • Celebrate & Respect Life: an ongoing ministry that strives to raise and maintain an awareness of the threats to the dignity of human life, “from the womb to the tomb.” Click for schedule and information
  • Food Pantry: a group of volunteers from the parish is organized each month to fulfill our parish’s commitment as one of 20 churches who sponsor the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. Click for schedule and information
  • Global Outreach: a ministry that draws the attention of our parish community to those in desperate need who live well beyond our national borders, with opportunities to provide financial assistance in their efforts toward self-improvement. Click for schedule and information
  • Outreach to the Needy: an ongoing ministry that operates twice a week through the parish offices in order to respond to the emergency needs of those who locally find themselves in a time of crisis. Click for schedule and information
  • Peace & Justice: a group that meets on a regular basis in order to promote and educate within the parish community on the Social Teachings of the Church.  This group strongly defends dignity of every human life against the practices that endanger it — poverty, abortion, war, torture, hunger, discrimination, and environmental destruction. Click for schedule and information
  • Prison Ministry: a ministry that seeks to offer hope and spiritual guidance to prison inmates, under the aegis of Kairos, an ecumenical, worldwide ministry.  Training is required. Click for schedule and information
